FROM THE PRESIDENT

First of all I’dlike to personally thank everyone for the great turn out at January’s meeting. We served 65 for dinner that night!

For all the guys, remember Valentine’s Candy and flowers and to get yourself out of the doghouse by attending the Valentine’s Cruise to Catfish Charlie’s on February 11th.
(Details have been going out in emails and can be found on the club’s website calendar.)

Hopefully we will see better cruising weather in March and April. Please pay attention to our web calendar for updates up future events. Day in Pompeii Feb. 10th, Dyno Day Feb. 17th, National
Seashore Park Cook-Out Feb. 24th, Legends Car Show March 17th. You will have several opportunities to drive your amazing Corvette this year! As I’ve said in the past, the MSGCCC makes every effort to support all area Corvette Clubs.

If you have not renewed your club membership, please do so at the
March meeting. This can be arranged via phone or email to Carl Hamilton in advance.
hamil66@cableone.net or 228-424-4064.

P.S. Looking for a new Corvette or Service for the one you have? Don’t forget our sponsoring dealerships: Turan-Foley Chevrolet in Gulfport, MS and Preston-Hood Chevrolet in Biloxi, MS .

A very big welcome goes out to our new members (Brian Gambony, Paul Swink, and John Clarke) and Happy Birthday to everyone celebrating this month. ( Kathy McLuckie, Wayne Cook, Doug Newman, Bob Turner, Mary Moran, Brook Heider, Sauncee Huff, Thomas Hines, Rick McGill, Darrell Suber, Sharon Breazeale, Larry Huff, George Casey, Mike Leeds, and Myra Zavatchan.)

Till then, Save the Wave!

CORVETTE TRIVIA

The Sting Ray name was not used on the 1968 Corvette, but returned in 1969… Spelled Stingray.

The last year a CB radio was offered as a Corvette option was 1985.

MEETING MINUTES

28 JANUARY 2006

Robert opened the meeting by having several new members introduce themselves to the members in attendance. Welcome aboard to all!

The problem of missing pages with the hard copy of the Club newsletter has been solved.

The Club has a membership directory now and will be for sale for $10. The directory will be updated as often as necessary. Members are asked to assist in this effort.

By now, hopefully everyone has seen the pictures of Carl Hamilton’s ZR-1 on display on the turntable at the entrance to the National Corvette Museum. February is MSGCCC month at the museum and we wish to thank Carl for representing the Club in fine fashion.

James Alverson gave a report on the Club’s visit to Gulfport Laundry. Robert then presented letters of thanks to David Gross and Richard Phelan. It should be noted that, following our tour, while gathered outside the building for pictures, James treated the group to one of his “famous” stories. As usual, the story was enjoyed by all.

Darrell Suber gave a report on the NCRS Show in Orlando, FL.

By now, every one should have seen Rain’s e-mails on the trip to the Pompeii Exhibit/Eastern Shore/Felix’s scheduled for Saturday, 10 February, as well as the Valentine Cruise to Catfish Charlie’s in Hammond, LA, scheduled for Sunday, February 11.

March 17th is the scheduled date for the Legends Car Show in Marrero, LA. Flyers have been sent around. The Club plans to support our New Orleans friends by attending the Show.

April 24th is the date for the Lower Alabama Show in Gulf Shores, AL. This show is reported to be a lot of fun. It’s a one-day show, go-and-come in one day; therefore, it is considered a local event.

Vettes by the Shore is coming together. The members in attendance had a chance to see the proposed Show logo.

We have another Tail of the Lizard Cruise coming up soon. This cruise is always a lot of fun. It is hoped we will have a lot of cars come along.

The 3rd weekend in April is set aside for the Club’s visit to the National Corvette Museum and Vette Assembly Plant. This cruise is always well attended and it is hoped that a lot of you will go along with us again this year.
