FROM THE PRESIDENT

Yes, 2006 is behind us and we had a fantastic year! I want to personally thank the club officers for giving 110% all year long as well as the club membership who have all stepped up to help make the Mississippi Gulf Coast Corvette Club an enormous success. Amazing accomplishments with events and activities brought record turnouts in participation, both locally and regionally. We appreciate the hard work from our outgoing officers, Deanna Suber (Treasurer) and Becky Turner (Sunshine Person), too.

Ideas have already started pouring in for the events calendar and it promises to yield an exciting 2007. Please continue to visit our website calendar to ensure you do not miss anything.

At this time I’d like to thanks Mr. Montana of Montana’s Barbecue for hosting a wonderful Christmas Party this past December. The Vetter Halves did an incredible job setting up the room and organizing the silent auction items. Rain Jaudon and Michael Carley provided entertainment as did several of the club ladies as they
joined James Alverson on the dance floor. I believe everyone enjoyed themselves and are looking forward to this year’s Christmas Party with great anticipation.

Special thanks also go out to Darrell and Deanna Suber for their tireless efforts in putting together our Vettes by the Shore event for the past six years. Ken Kline was nominated as VBTS Chairman and he already has the ball rolling. As club members, expect to hear from Ken or one of his committee to assist in sponsorships, donations, sponsor trophy sales, judging, parking, and more.

Last but not least, Congratulations to everyone in the club. The National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY has awarded the MSGCCC a monthly spot on the display turntable in front of the museum. The officers made the decision to have Carl Hamilton’s red/red 1991 ZR-1 take this place of honor for the month of February.

Till then, Save the Wave!

MEETING MINUTES

28 DECEMBER 2006

The December meeting of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Corvette Club was held at Montana’s Restaurant in Gulfport. We had 37 members in attendance. Robert began the meeting with the announcement that Jim Harrington is our new Treasurer and Rachel Syrie is our Sunshine
Person. Congratulations to both and welcome aboard as Club Officers.

If anyone wants a Club name tag, please see Ms Wanda Alverson at our next meeting. Cost of the tags is $6.00.

Robert had Sharon Breazeale come to the front in order to thank her for opening her home to the members who ran the Tail of the Lizard and participated in the Monticello Christmas Parade. The food and fellowship was so great that everyone (Robert?) forgot the hard time they had finding Sharon’s house in the country. Thanks, Sharon.

On Saturday, January 13th, the Club will visit Gulfport Laundry on Seaway Road in Gulfport. Gulfport Laundry is owned by fellow Club member, David Gross. We will meet around 8:00 AM at the Gulfport Cracker Barrel. Following breakfast, we will tour the Laundry. Following the tour, we will find a nice restaurant and have lunch. Is it beginning to sound like we like to eat?

The “Vetter Halves” will meet at the Suber’s house in Long Beach on Sunday, January 14th. The “Better Halves” will meet at Robert’s house the same day.

Robert gave Mr. Montana a letter of appreciation for the wonderful treatment we received at our Christmas Party on December 1st.

The Suber’s asked to be relieved as Chairs for the Vettes by the Shore for 2007, after chairing the show for six years. During their term, the show was a great success. Thanks Darrell and Deanna for a job well done. Ken Klein has graciously accepted Chairmanship for the 2007 show in June. Ken will need lots of help, so Robert asked the membership to step up and support Ken in order to continue our success with the show.

We have a very busy schedule of cruises set for the first half of 2007. All events will be posted on our web site. Your participation will benefit the Club and you will have a great time.
