FROM THE PRESIDENT
Things are really rolling along this year.
May and June should slow down but the events are no smaller. Weather is
permitting us to take our Vettes out more often as well.
April & (early) May saw the MSGCCC
attend a Mobile Bay Bears vs Mississippi Braves (Mississippi lost L) . We also had a cruise
in at Edgewater Mall, the Camp Shelby Car Show, Route 66 trip, San Antonio, TX
car show, Bowling Green, KY adventure, Dillon McBride’s Corvette Experience in
Biloxi, MS, Return to Tail of the Lizard V, and a Vetter Halves Meeting. These
were just SOME of the recent Club events.
We have the Dothan, AL to Panama City,
FL run May 19-20. Visit http://www.circlecitycorvettes.com/
for all the info! (take Vettes by the Shore FLYERS to hand out please)
And on Monday, May 21st,
some of the club will depart for MEXICO on the Carnival Holiday cruise ship.
Thursday the 31st
is the next Club Meeting at Montana’s. Following that, we will have a Vettes
by the Shore PREPARATION gathering. We will assemble trophies and stuff goody
bags – JUNE 2nd.
Location TBA – Watch your Email!
Don’t forget to get registered for
Vettes by the Shore by June 1st.
VBTS is June 8-10, 2007 at the Coast Coliseum
Convention Center.
No early pull-outs. Must have 1/4 tank of gas or
less and a battery disconnect to comply with venue rules.
(Additional
information on ALL of these events is located on our msgccc.com website. Click

CORVETTE TRIVIA
In 1987 you could buy a
Corvette without an engine installed by the factory.
The 1997 Corvette C5 is
the first Corvette designed from the ground up to be a Corvette.. Not
borrowing parts from other cars. One of the few "Off the Shelf"
parts - the exterior door handles, same ones used on the Oldsmobile Aurora.

Minutes of the MSGCCC Meeting
Thursday, 26 April 2007
We had 63 members in attendance at our April meeting
at Preston-Hood Chevrolet. Good show, Guys!
James McLeod, Parts Manager, welcomed the Club to
Preston-Hood.
Robert recounted the tale of the broken fan belt
on Jada’s Vette during our trip to the NCM. He gave a vote of thanks to
Advance Auto Parts for getting the belt to Elizabethtown, KY, overnight.
We had several new members in attendance at our
meeting.
Robert showed off the model Vettes that will be
mounted on the trophies to be awarded during Vettes by the Shore. Needless to say, they look great. Rain did a
great job of rounding them up for the Club. Speaking of VBTS, we really need all our members to register their cars for
the show. It isn’t going to look good if, with as many members as we have now,
if some other club outshines us. So get crackin’, guys. You can register on
line or use the hard copy registration form, but register, please. We plan to
get together on Saturday, June 2, to put the trophies together. More info will
be forthcoming.
Joe Fleming reported that there was no news to
report on Cruisin’ the Coast (CTC). A meeting will be held prior to our May
meeting and he will have info for us then.
The Club’s supported Cruise-in in the Edgewater
Mall parking lot will be held Saturday, May 5th, from 6-9 PM. We would appreciate as
many folks showing up as possible.
Darlene Crews gave a report on the Camp Shelby
Show. Top of the list was the Crews’ Soldier’s Choice Trophy.
Congratulations, Tommy and Darlene!
Carolyn Meyer reported on the Club’s trip to the
NCM and our cruise to the Maker’s Mark distillery. A great time was had by all
who made the trip.
John Blair gave a report on the trip that
several Club members took to the show in San Antonio, Texas. It sounded as if
it was a great time. James and Wanda Alverson received the “Best in Class” trophy
for their Vette. Congratulations Jim and Wander Faye.
September 15th – There will be a “Vettes and Jets on
the Lex” show on the USS Lexington, berthed at Corpus Christi, Texas. It is
planned to put 300 Vettes on the flight deck. On Sunday, their will also be an
open car show.
Bruce Dunagan gave a report on the Route 66 trip
taken by several Club members. It sounded like that was a very interesting
trip and a lot of fun.
Richard Blanton gave a report on the Club’s
participation in the presentation of Corvette memorabilia to the McBride
youngster. Most of us probably saw the report in the Sun Herald and on
WLOX-TV.
The Club will return to the “Tail of the Lizard”
on May 12th.
It is hoped we have a good turnout for the cruise. We will eat at a yet to be
determined restaurant following the run.
The Club’s Cruise to Mexico on Carnival Lines is
scheduled for May 21st.
