MINUTES

The first Club meeting of the new year was held at Montana’s Restaurant in Gulfport.  The meeting was disappointing in that someone on the restaurant’s staff scheduled another festivity next to our meeting room.  Needless to say, no one could hear (very well) what was being said when our President, Robert Kline tried to conduct the meeting.  Fortunately, Mr. Montana came into our meeting and apologized profusely for the mix up and promised us, if we come back, he would give us his assurance that our meeting would be the only one being held that night.  I, personally, was impressed with his actions and feel we should give him an opportunity to follow through on his promise.

We had 35 members in attendance, which is great!  Congratulations to all.  We also had one new member in attendance – Cortney Hyer.  Welcome aboard, Courtney!  We also had three guests at our meeting: Bill Buckly (I hope the spelling is correct), who is Robert Kline’s boss.  Also, we had two folks from Preston-Hood Chevrolet: Jim Ski, Automotive Consultant, and James McLeod, Parts Manager.

Robert opened the meeting with a discussion regarding the decisions made by the Club’s Board of Directors.  Some of those decisions were: we are planning an increase in the annual dues, making changes to the Club registration form, setting up a set of by-laws for the Club, and getting an up-to-date, and accurate, list of members, their mailing and e-mail addresses, telephone numbers, and Vette owned.  I was asked to go out to each Club member and attempt to get the updated info mentioned above.  Y’all will be hearing from me soon.

The Preston-Hood folks made it clear that they wish to become involved in our Club activities.  We welcome their desire to work with us and are very happy to have them aboard.

Next, Joe Fleming spoke about Cruisin’ the Coast.  Although it is still early and not much is going on at present, Joe did discuss the Cruisin’ Staff T-shirts.  Each member who signs up to work four hours during the Cruisin’ week will receive a Staff T-shirt.  Joe will need a list of names of those who intend to work, along with T-shirt sizes no later than our July meeting.  Darrell Hill will assist Joe with Cruisin’ the Coast as well as again heading up the preparations for the Corvette Rendezvous on the last Saturday night of the Cruisin’ week.  Preston-Hood will once again sponsor the Rendezvous.  We are hoping that Grand Casino Biloxi will also come along as a sponsor again this year.

New style Club T-shirts were discussed.  They will be similar to a royal blue with checkered sleeves and collars.  Each paid member will get one shirt.  Anyone wishing to get a second shirt will pay $25 per shirt.

There was a short discussion on the Purple Heart Parade this Saturday.  Members who volunteered to drive their Vettes in the parade were asked to be at Lemuse and Esters streets in Biloxi for 10:15 AM, Saturday morning.  The parade will go, rain or shine.

Darrell Suber stated that preparations for Vettes by the Shore are moving along quite well.

Robert is interested in getting a handle on any and all Club assets.  Anyone who has any, please contact Robert and let him know what you have.
