MS Gulf Coast Corvette Club May 2005 Newsletter

OFFICERS FOR 2005
FROM THE PRESIDENTThanks for the wonderful turnout at Montana’s last month. We were pleased to have a visitor from Kansas, Warner White, with his blue 1994 ZR-1. We have signed up one new member this month, Mr. Pete Pinto of Ocean Springs. Pete has a 2002 Quick Silver convertible. I hope everyone is enjoying the food and hospitality at Montana’s. The June meeting will be at Andy Brown’s Firestone dealership on Highway 49 in Gulfport. It is on the east side just a few blocks north of Pass Road. Food will be provided. This will be a powder puff mechanics course presented by Bridgestone/Firestone. June 21 at 6:00 pm sharp. It is important that as many members as possible attend the show in New Orleans on May 14. They not only need our cars, but could use some help with judging. This is a fun, show and shine type event. Let’s try to help them with our participation. They are always quick to help us! If anyone has news items to contribute for the monthly newsletter, please submit them to me not later than the first of each month. If you have not entered your car for Vettes by the Shore, please do so now. Your club needs your help selling sponsor trophies. As of today, we have sold about half as many as we need. We are about a month away from the show and the trophy maker needs the orders in the next couple of weeks. Forms can be downloaded from the club website. www.msgccc.com. Save the wave! Robert Kline ∆
Mississippi Gulf Coast Corvette ClubMinutes of Club Meeting Tuesday, 19 April 2005The April meeting of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Corvette Club was held Tuesday night, April 19th, at Montana’s Restaurant in Gulfport. Our President, Robert Kline, opened the meeting by thanking all who showed for the March meeting, held at Carl Hamilton’s shop. Robert said there was a good turnout, in spite of the lousy weather. It was decided by the membership that the Club would support the Edgewater Cruise-in, held the first Saturday night of each month. (Note: This is what I have in my record of the minutes – if this is incorrect, someone please correct me). There was a discussion regarding the EXTRAVETTEGANZA show in New Orleans on May 14th. Members were asked to try to go to the show to support our friends from the New Orleans’ area. Registration will be from 8-10 AM Saturday morning, so we can caravan over in the morning and return the same evening. Flyers were distributed. Joe Fleming discussed Cruisin’ the Coast (CTC). He mentioned that there was no meeting in April. He will have minutes of the May meeting in time for our meeting on the 17th. Joe mentioned that if an individual works 24 volunteer hours during CTC, that person will get a free registration for the following year. Since a number of couple-teams work during the CTC, the question was asked if they could add up the hours each worked towards the 24 hour requirement for free registration. Joe said he would have an answer for us at the next meeting. A question arose regarding the distribution of the Club Newsletter by e-mail only to those who have e-mail capability and continuing to snail mail the Newsletter to those members who do not. The Club’s officers will determine which of our members will continue to receive a hard copy. Carl Hamilton and Joe Fleming are continuing to work on a boilerplate of the Club’s By-laws. This boilerplate will be provided to all members for comment. Darrell Suber gave the members an update on Vettes By The Shore. The Saturday night party is pretty much set. We will be having the same band as last year. For registration during the Show, Darrell is having a large banner painted which will contain the Vettes By The Shore logo. The plan is to take pictures of all Vettes registered in the show, as they arrive. Winning entries will be shown on the screen as the various trophies are presented. Also, registrants will receive a copy of the picture. Rain Jaudon is trying to set up a cruise to the Tail of the Lizard for Saturday, May 28th. More info will be provided as it becomes available. Because of the tremendous amount of help he provides our Club, as well as promoting our Club and its activities in the New Orleans Area (not to mention his help and support of the NCRS, both locally and nationally), the members voted to give Mr. Mike Leeds a complementary life membership in the Mississippi Gulf Coast Corvette Club. Congratulations, Mike. Ed Nunenmacher MSGCCC Secretary
